What is a Canadian Pardon?
A pardon (which is now called a Record Suspension) sets aside a person’s criminal record from the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database meaning that any search of CPIC will not show that a person has a criminal record.
Why do I need a Pardon?
A pardon will help you access things like employment and educational opportunities, immigration, coaching and volunteer work, licencing requirements and peace of mind knowing your record has been set aside.
I live out of province, can PardonYou! still help me?
YES! We live in a virtual world now and technology is a great thing. There is no need for you to be near us. We can send all forms through email or if you aren’t very tech savvy then we can do everything through the mail. We will always work with you, at your comfort level, to get you the FREEDOM you deserve.
Will a Pardon help me travel?
No. A Pardon does not guarantee you entry or visa privileges to any other country. You may be required to apply for a U.S. Entry Waiver if travelling to the United States. If you have been convicted of a criminal offence, whether or not you have received a Pardon, it is recommended that you obtain a U.S. Waiver in order to avoid any travel delays or embarrassing security stops and interviews.
What happens if I get another conviction?
Your Pardon will be revoked and everything will appear back on your record just as it did before.
How do I know if I qualify for a Pardon?
There are requirements you must meet in order to qualify for a Pardon. You must have completed your sentence fully, meaning completed all aspects to your sentence including, jail time, probation, paying of any fines or restitution, etc. There is also a waiting period that you must have completed. For more information on the waiting period that applies to your individual case, please send us an email and we will provide you with more detailed information.
Why is there a waiting period before I can apply?
There are many factors that the Parole Board of Canada takes into consideration when determining whether or not to grant a Pardon. The waiting period is designed to demonstrate that you are not a future threat to society by showing you are a law-abiding citizen for a number of years.
Can PardonYou! guarantee that I will get my Pardon?
No, and you should be very cautious about any person or organization that tells you they can guarantee you will get your Pardon. No one other than the Parole Board of Canada makes the decision on granting Pardons. The role of PardonYou! is to ensure your paperwork is filled out correctly and that you have all the information you need to help the Parole Board make their decision. We have the knowledge and expertise that maximizes your chances of being successful.
